Sweet treats of colour for your fingertips

Color-Club-Halo-Hues-Spring-2013 When I saw the press release for the Color Club Halo Hues Spring 2013 collection, I was excited to swatch these colours. My nail polish collection doesn’t include many holographic polishes and after seeing swatches of the first Halo Hues collection, that needed to change.

The Color Club Spring 2013 collection was described as:

The most cosmic colors come out at night, filling the heavenly skies with a shimmering glow. The NEW Halo Hues Collection brings the Northern Lights to your fingertips with colorful, iridescent shades that will brighten up your routine. The collection features 6 out of this world shades – from Beyond and Cosmic Fate to Over The Moon and Eternal Beauty. With colors so divine, this new vegan, formaldehyde, toluene, camphor and DBP-free collection will ensure you turn heads.

The two colours I chose from this collection were Over The Moon and Eternal Beauty.

Color Club Halo Hues Review

Over The Moon is a semi blue holographic polish. The formula worked perfectly for me as it was very pigmented, applied very smoothly giving me full coverage with the first coat alone. One thin coat of polish later and my nails were complete. The shine was enough on its own and so I didn’t add a top coat. The pictures above prove that it certainly wasn’t needed. The bonus was the fact that my nails lasted six days before slightly chipping despite not adding a top coat.

Color-Club-Halo-Hues-Spring-2013-Eternal-Beauty-swatch-reviewEternal Beauty is a medium purple holographic lacquer and similarly to Over The Moon, the formula glided on beautifully leaving behind no streaks or patches. The first coat was already extremely saturated but with a thin second coat, my nails were fully opaque and the glossy finish meant I didn’t need to add a top coat to this one either. I managed to get seven days with this polish before I saw the first chip so a thumbs up from me.

Holographic polishes I've tried in the past have been a horrible let down but these two have restored my faith and impressed me completely. The pigmentation, the formula and the performances have all suprised me and I will certainly be looking for the other colours to add to my collection.
