The Essie In The Cab-ana Resort 2013 collection was released last month and this year, the collection featured two new PPD (Professional Products Division) exclusive colours. I’ve always been a fan of Essie’s Resort collections but is this year any different?
The collection is described as:
Beautiful. Beguiling. Brazen. She’s sexy and she knows it. Not one to mince words, she believes boundaries are for breaking – in fashion and in life. She works hard and plays even harder.
The five colours I bought were:
Essie In The Cab-ana Resort 2013 Collection
Come Where! is an opaque bright corally red creme polish with an impressive super pigmented first coat. The colour is even more luminous in person; very close to being a neon polish but it dried rapidly with a shiny finish. With two medium thick coats of polish, the polish levelled off nicely and the colour was beautiful.
First Timer is a medium mint creme in the bottle however once sealed with a topcoat, the colour changes and adjusts to a more vivid neon-like lime green with strong yellow undertones. It’s the weirdest thing. I liked the new colour but I definitely preferred the original shade without a top coat. The formula applied slightly streaky with the first coat but all gaps were covered with a thick second coat.
In The Cab-ana is a captivating medium turquoise in a creme finish. The formula was an absolute dream to work with. I applied two medium thick coats and there were no visible brush strokes or patches but instead a smooth, full coverage block of colour. Not to mention, a very glossy finish.
Under Where? is a is a lovely lilac creme with strong pink under tones. The first coat left a few streaks but the addition of a second coat resolved that issue. Again this polish was very self levelling and I simply adored this pinky lilac. I must admit, it isn’t an original shade and I do own a few polishes in this colour but I think it compliments my skin tone so I do wear it quite often.
Nice Package is a peachy pink hue. This is one of the salon exclusive shades. The polish glided on perfectly with no streaks and with a thin second coat, my nails were completely covered. With a gorgeous gloss and saturated colour, this formula worked great for me.
