I picked up the Illamasqua Raindrops nail polish a couple months ago after reading lots of positive reviews. This year, because of the huge success of Raindrops, they released a pink version of the coveted shade but I decided to try with the original first.
Raindrops was one of the winning entries of the Illamasqua competition “Design Your own Nail Varnish.” Inspired by a photograph taken from the monorail in Seattle, the winner wanted a polish that looked like raindrops on her nails—light, creamy gray with the sheerest silver glimmer and lightly reflective…like a raindrop. Pink Raindrops was inspired by the original version and the love it received globally.
Raindrops is a pale grey with a sheer jelly finish and speckled with irregular sized silver shimmers. The first coat applied smoothly with minimum effort and left behind a semi sheer finish. The second coat I applied gave the colour more depth and also resembled the rainy weather it was inspired by. With a thin layer of topcoat , my nails were prepared for the week ahead.
